Let's Make Some Presents
We are going to make this present as a full box with
all sides , even though once you put the ribbon on the top not all sides
will show..so you can save it as a ufo to use to put things in the box
if you desire by leaving off the lid.

Open an blank image 400 x 400
choose the path drawing tool, square draw a square approx 170 x 170 3d...Border 15.........Depth 12 Right click on it...... Duplicate it to use for the other areas of the box. With the first square you drew active.... we need to bring our box into perspective so go to the transform tool..distort. Get this side to look like mine by draggig in the arrows. |

Now choose the other square to make active and again go to the transform tool, distort and bring your sides in so they resemble the picture you see here. |

Click on the first square you made into perspective ...for the left side of your box...right click..duplicate it..right click..send to back and place on the right side as shown. |

Now Click on the front panel of the box you made and make it active, right click and duplicate it...right click and send to back....place it as the back of your box. |

Now draw another square,same settings..this one is going to be the top of your box and you will again need to use the transform tool, distort to get it to fit on the top. The first thing I did is to rotate this square and place it so one corner is sitting at the edge of the box. |

Then I used the transform tool, distort to pull in each corner so it matches up with the other box's sides. Now is a good time to save your box as a ufo object.

Lets now put a design on the box..With this one shown I went to the easy palette , fill gallery and used the one shown here. MT036 |

Here is a picture of the box
with this fill. You are unlimited to the many designs you can use to suit your own taste. at this point, hold down the crtl key, the shift key and the a key at the same time..this selects all of your pieces...right click..select group. Don't forget save as you go. |

Now lets make some ribbons to put on our box. Go to the path drawing tool and select rectangle. Draw a narrow rectangle the length of your box. Right click and duplicate it 3 times. Place it on the front of your box. You will notice that you are going to have to use the transform tool, distort to get the ends to line up correctly with your box edges. So do that now. Then select one of your other rectangles and place it on the side of your box, again you will need to make the ends fit the edge of your box, so use the transform tool as before. Place your other two rectangles on the top of your box and again use the transform tool so they fit the edges correctly. Now is also a good time to save your box. Now put the color on your ribbons that you want if you have not done that yet. |

Now lets make the bow. Go to the path drawing took, custom shape and
select plaque 5. You will want this piece to be narrow for a bow.

Right click it while active and duplicate. Go to edit ....rotate and flip..choose flip vertically. Go to the pick tool..Hold down the shift key and select one of the shapes you just made..then select the other shape..right click ..select group. |

Now choose the color you want for your bow. It's a good time to save your box at this point. Now right click the bow piece you just made and duplicate it. Go to the transform tool and rotate it, placing it so one edge meets the other one. Continue to duplicate and rotate until you get your bow all the way around , meeting your first one you made. Once this is completed click on your first bow piece you made..hold down the shift key and click on the rest of them..so they are all activated..right click..group......Save your work. |

Right click on your bow you just made..duplicate it..use the transform tool to bring it in a little smaller than the first one and place on top of it. Repeat this process once more. Hold down the shift key and click on each piece..right click..group. Now you have your bow. Place it on top of your box. |

Other things you can do with your box. With your bow you can use the paint on edge to give it a different look. You can leave the top off of your box and place something inside it by placing the lid you make behind the back piece of the box. Have fun designing your presents and boxes.. |
