This birdcage was created in Photo Impact 6

Open a new image 300 x 300
Go to the path drawing tool
Custom shape
3D round
Select plaque 5
Make it approx. 179 W x 73 H
watch your size at the bottom of your screen as  you draw your shape.
Go to edit/fill
select gradient
gold fill 008
Go to material gallery
Bump gallery
choose sandpaper.
Now go over to the right side whre you will see the colors..click on the bottom color and change it to black.
Now go up to effect..
paint on edges
While your piece is still active
right click on it/ duplicate
Then go up to edit/rotate and flip vertically. 
Line the two pieces you made up 
creating a circle. Make sure the front one is on top..by right clicking on it and select arrange..bring to front.
Go back up to path drawing tool/shape elipse. Same gold gradient. Click material button/bump/uncheck the bump file. Draw your oval for the bottom of the cage and put it in place. You will again need to bring the front piece of your base to the front..right click it.select arrange...bring to front.
Go to path tool..shape..rounded rectangle..3D..gold gradient. Make this vertical piece approx.. 5 W x 111 H.
This is going to be your bars for the cage.
Place at edge of base.. Right click duplicate.
Duplicate until you get enough to go across your base..follow the line of the base as you place them and have them over lap the base just a tiny bit. When finished duplicating..click on the front of you base to activate it..
right click..arrange..send to front.
Now for the tricky part. Go to line and arrow tool. Shape , spline. Set at gold gradient 3 D...
width 2
At the edge of the first bar you made click there then you follow along clicking until you get this shape. Double click when you reach the other side to release.
Your shape should look like this now.
Go to pick tool..click on piece you just made..right click duplicate/ change width to 1
Go to transform tool..and adjust it so it is this size. Right click , duplicate..go to transform tool and make it fit in side the other one..this time bring the top of it up so it comes into the other one at the top.
Continue to right click and duplicate and use the transform tool to size it into the one above it and each time bring the top up into the one above it. Do this until you get the top of the cage closed up.
Back to path tool/custom shape/3D/gold gradient/ choose spikes

 

 This is going to cover where you have joined the top bars of the cage.
While active go to object/convert object type/ from path to image.
Go to eraser tool
We are going to erase this piece in 1/2

 

 Put it in place as shown.Now go to edit path took/custom shape and choose plaque 5 again. Right click duplicate it.. then rotate and flip one of them vertically. Place over the spike piece you made. Put the one to the back by right clicking it and arrange...send to back.
Go to outline drawing tool/elipse/gold gradient

 

 Make an oval as shown. Right click and duplicate. Now go back to first ring you made..click to activate it..go to object/ convert object type ..from path to image
Go to eraser tool..erase back half  but leave a little of the turn part there on each edge.
Right click your half piece and duplicate it. Now go to the other ring you made and repeat..converting object from  path to image..and erase again ..BUT this time erase the front 1/2 of the ring..again leaving the turned edge on each end.
Right click and duplicate this half ring also.
Right click the back halves and arrange...send to back place as shown.
Place the front rings as shown also.
Now lets make a bird swing. Open a new image 200 x 200. Go to path drawing tool...shape rounded rectange/gold gradient /3D..this will be the bar.
Go to line and arrow tool/ shape spline tool/ width 1 Make your shape as shown over the bar. Double click at the last point to release.
Ok over to the outline drawing tool/shape elipse/gold gradient/ width 1
This makes the ring at the top of your swing. Add your  bird now if you wish.
Lets group these..click control key/shift/A ..this activates all of your swing..now right click/ merge as single object....Drag over to your cage.


while swing is active..right click/arrange/send to back. then right click arrange/bring foreward until you get it in proper alignment inside your cage.
Thats it!
To merge all as a single object ..select ctrl/shift/A......then all will be active..right click/merge as single object....
